Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

RESTORING FUNCTION. RENEWING INDEPENDENCE.REBUILDING LIVES.

At Premier Hospitalists of Kansas, our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) services are dedicated to helping patients recover from serious illness, injury, or surgery by restoring function, independence, and quality of life. Our program is built on the belief that true healing extends beyond medical stabilization—it involves the restoration of physical ability, emotional strength, and confidence.

Our PM&R team brings together a skilled group of physicians who work collaboratively to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs. By combining medical expertise, advanced rehabilitative therapies, and evidence-based protocols, we ensure comprehensive recovery and continuity of care from hospital to home.

Our team treats a broad spectrum of conditions, including neurological injuries such as stroke, spinal cord, and traumatic brain injury; orthopedic trauma and joint replacement recovery; post-surgical rehabilitation; and complex medical deconditioning that often follows prolonged illness or hospitalization. Each patient’s care plan is designed to maximize functional outcomes and promote long-term wellness.

Core Services Include:

  • Comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and functional assessment to establish individualized recovery goals

  • Coordination of physical, occupational, and speech therapy services for an integrated approach to care

  • Management of pain, mobility limitations, and chronic impairments to enhance comfort and participation in therapy

  • Multidisciplinary care planning to ensure seamless transitions between acute, post-acute, and outpatient settings

  • Patient and family education to support engagement, safety, and sustained progress after discharge

  • Long-term follow-up and outcome tracking to evaluate recovery milestones and maintain continuity of care

Our mission is to help every patient achieve the highest possible level of independence and function through compassionate, evidence-based rehabilitative care. We are committed to empowering individuals and their families through education, encouragement, and collaboration—transforming recovery into renewed confidence and a better quality of life.

Integrated Hospitalist & Rehabilitation Collaboration

Our hospitalist team works closely with PM&R physicians, therapists, and nursing staff to ensure continuity and excellence throughout every stage of recovery. This partnership bridges the gap between acute medical management and rehabilitative care, allowing patients to transition safely and efficiently from the hospital to the rehabilitation setting.

Hospitalists play a vital role in monitoring and managing complex medical conditions that may impact recovery, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infections, and pain control. By maintaining active involvement in the patient’s care plan, our hospitalists provide the medical stability necessary for patients to fully participate in their rehabilitation programs.

This collaborative, team-based approach ensures that each patient receives consistent communication, coordinated treatment, and individualized support tailored to their specific goals and challenges. Together, our hospitalists and rehabilitation specialists deliver an integrated model of care that promotes faster recovery, reduces complications, and empowers patients to regain independence and quality of life.
